More from the Naked & Angry series that went nowhere but here…

These are all from a mostly unplanned, spontaneous shoot we did last summer here in Chicago. We probably shot for 3 hours or so and just wandered around looking for cool spots. We had planned to shoot more but since this project didn’t pan out we never did.

If you’re wondering, all the photos were shot with a canon 5d, 17-40mm or 50mm along with an on camera and synced off-camera speedlite.

Jillian for Naked & Angry

OK so I lied a little perhaps.. I had planned to phase out this blog, or at least thought about it, but I think it will remain for strictly photography business. You should, however, point your browsers over to my new blog which is still a work in progress but is where I will be doing most of my posting from here on out. The server is undergoing some maintenance as I post this, and there are still some kinks to work out, but you can check it out at everyoneisfamous.com (directly it’s claytonhauck.com/snaps).

On top of this I have tons of other things I am way behind on. Archiving, wedding jobs, current jobs, portfolio updating, etc, etc, etc. It really never ends.

Anyway, on with the post at hand…

A while back I shot some photos for a local designer line called Naked & Angry. I shot three models and a variety of purses and bags and whathaveyou. Apparently, none of the photos are ever going to be used for one reason or another but I didn’t want the project to be a total waste so I wanted to post a few of my favorites up here.

Jillian is a friend of mine and one of the girls I used to shoot with. She’s not very laidback in front of the camera (ADD n stuff) so it was a bit of a challenge. But whatever enough talking here are some shots.

There are a bunch more to come with two different girls, so stay tuned!

back into the swing…kind of

Had planned on staying at the office until 10. had planned on finishing the following things:

-put in a few hours on digitizing project [x]
-finish processing the Kevin Koval shots from the June 24 shoot [x] (see below)
-update my website with another night snapshots edition [can't fucking find the files]
-spend a few hours editing the wedding I shot in June [didn't touch it]
-scan the good frames i just picked up from the lab today [not even close]

So fuck, I didn’t get nearly as much done as I’d hoped. I don’t know where the time goes… I tried.

I decided that I wanted to post some of the shots I did of Kevin Koval, a Chicagoan poet and really nice guy. The shoot was intended to serve as a styling portfolio for a friend of mine, Aya, but I think we both missed the goal. The shots don’t serve that purpose very well, but there are still some good ones in the bunch. I’m really looking to improve my portraiture as much as possible. Feeling comfortable, knowing how to use the light best, knowing how to control the model best. These are areas I need to improve on.

Tomorrow I will be shooting some casual shots of Anna from Germany. She contacted me via Model Mayhem, if I remember correctly, a few months back and now here she is! I don’t have much free time these days but I think it could be a fun experience so I want to fit it in. Nothing is really planned so we’ll have to swing things, but that’s my style anyway.

Also have a date set with Stacey to shoot for her CD cover this coming Sunday. She wants to standard I’m-a-sexy-hot-whatever type shot, which is something I’ve not yet done, so it could be interesting. We’ll see.

Failure #1 : There is zero focus on the cloting/style here. I like the idea but execution could be better. I had the idea of putting the kid in the b/g on a whim. Not sure if it works but it does add a bit of someting.

Okay so no more kid. I think this shot much but again, not for a styling portfolio. Also the position of the green chair is a bit annoying.

Not sure about these. The hallway shot was abandoned during shooting as it was not working out so well.

I really love the tones and colours of this one. Subtle, in a way..

So alright. 11:23pm.

I’ve got RAW images all over the place. On the computer at work, on the drives at home, on DVDs at work and DVDs at home. I am in massive need of sorting thru everything. It’s amazing how important organization is and how quickly I am learning this!

Got a call from a stock image company that found my site. This was … 2 weeks ago now. Still have not returned the call. Not sure if I want to go down this path just now, or if it’s even a good path to go down at all. We’ll see.

Back to freelancing on a commercial set this Thursday. Calltime is 5am or something insane like this, so I don’t yet know how I will manage to completely reverse my sleeping schedule.

Shooting another wedding (video) on the 2nd of next month. I really hope this is my last.

Must go!

Enjoy,
Clayton
