Some more film for you to see, but first some of the day’s thoughts…
What a day… really. I was awoken to a phonecall from an unknown number at 10am. I did not answer. The voicemessage when something like this though. “Hey you fucker. It’s Mike. I’m back from my honeymoon and I want my goddamned wedding video, bitch!”
Well.. it didn’t really go like that but it very well could have. I shot this fucker – well, we shot this fucker – roughly four months ago. Me and my 2nd camera assistant Megan, that is. It was more more like an epic production than a wedding video. See, the shoot doubled as a reality show for theknot.com. We documented both the bride and the groom from 9 in the morning until the end of the reception. This is around 14 hours of shooting. All in all we shot 12 tapes. Loooong story short, I had all the footage loaded on my old job’s drive. Now I no longer work there so I had to reload it all on my PC at home. Fuck.
Well I FINALLY got it all loaded. From 2pm until 11:30pm.. nothing but loading. And watching movies in the meantime. Finally got around to viewing both Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Fucking amazing films, really. Just my style of film, too. Makes me regret not having a love fling while in Europe last fall
Alright so now I have not one but two weddings to edit before I hopefully go west on October 3rd. These weddings have to be finished before I leave.
Also trying to figure out where to get prints made now that my lab’s scanner is fucked. Made some calls and found a local Wolf that just bought a new printer, so that will happen Monday. Another thing for the list.
Oh and another thing I accomplished while loading 12 MiniDV tapes to my new 500Gig Lacie drive.. I won an eBay bid on a YashicaT4 35mm point-and-shoot film camera. This is good as it will help me alleviate my currently overflowing refridgerator full of (mostly already expired) film I’ve gotten donated to me from a few people. Apparently people don’t use this stuff anymore…
Okay too much talking already. Here are some much overdue photos. The roll was developed 21 days ago! Jesus time flies.
All photos were shot on the Nikon FM2 with Kodak MAX 400 consumer-grade film. B/Ws converted in PS7 via channel mixxx ! … why convert coulour film to b/w you ask? why the fuck not I say!… so long as you know what you’re doing that is. I think I do.
And of course, the contact sheet for your viewing enjoyment!
Enjoy the weekend,
Clayton
